October Emergency Preparedness - Update your 72 Hour Kit and First Aid Kit

Update your 72 Hour Kit

This month is a good time to update your 72 Hour Kit.

Repack with winter clothes instead of summer clothes.

Check for expired food and water and update as needed.

Replace medications that have expired.  Add 3 days of new medications and eliminate those no longer needed.

Review your copies of legal documents and make new copies of those that have changed.  View the Legal Document Suggestions page at the top of the blog for paperwork you may want to have copies of.

Update your First Aid Kit

Replace any missing and expired items.

Add new items that apply to any new situation such as new family member(s), new medications, allergy changes, etc.

January 2014 - Update 72 Hour Kits and First Aid Kits.

January should be easy for those who made their 72 hour kits and First Aid kits last year.  I you didn't now is the time to make them.  Go to the tabs on this blog for different level kits or click on these links.  72 Hour Kits and   First Aid Kits.

If you have these thing done then use this month to update them.
1. Check that all batteries are still good.
2. Make sure there is no corrosion in the flashlights.
3. Is any food or drinks expired.
4. Have your eating preferences changed and you don't like something you liked when you packed this kit.  5. Does everyone's clothes still fit?
6. Do you take different medications that need to be updated?
7. Are your medical supplies expired?
8. Has anything leaked?

Make sure everything is up to date and in good working order.  Can you leave comfortably in an emergency for 3 days if needed?  Can you leave right now?
